The participants talked in more detail about how Austria and Croatia used 3SI for their projects and goals. There was also a discussion about the complex security challenges facing Europe today, the possible loss of momentum of our Initiative, and the reception of potential new member states.

Matija Horvat emphasized the benefits of the LNG terminal on the island of Krk for Croatia and the entire region and landlocked countries. CEA’s position has always been that the potential for further cooperation through the Initiative can be seen in defense, security, dealing with hybrid threats from autocratic regimes, etc. It is also necessary to preserve the rule of law, the backbone of liberal democracy, in all 3SI member states.

In the conversation, we specifically touched on the problems of the neighboring region – the Western Balkans (a place that Mr. Kloucek also knows) – to bring the challenges and threats facing Croatia, as well as the entire Western democracy, closer to the viewers of the panel. CEA strongly advocates for the victory of Ukraine, which will also help to reduce the ever-going tensions in the Western Balkans.

The “Three Seas Partnership” program is financed by the National Institute of Freedom – Center for the Development of Civil Society as part of the Government Program Civic Initiatives Fund NOWEFIO for the years 2021-2030.
