Superficial and generalized public perceptions

The panel discussed the background and motives of various actors who spread the propaganda of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist groups. Such actors are often carriers of extremism backed by Iran, the state sponsor of terrorism. Moreover, their messages significantly influence the creation of superficial and generalized public perceptions about Israeli security policies.

Such pro-Palestinian actors, predominantly on the radical left, spread post-modern anti-Semitism and deny the right of Israel’s existence. Their disinformation, usually not fact-checked, includes narratives about colonialism, global intifada, or naive pacifism. Moreover, anti-Semitism has been embraced by the left and spread throughout academia. Therefore, humanities students study the Critical Race Theory and other ideological narratives. All this testifies to the crisis of post-modern Marxism.

The fundamental question is whether people have read the Hamas Charter. Moreover, what is the role of the UN?

CEA brought the audience closer to the disinformation circulating in the public space and directed against the State of Israel. At the same time, it was explained to the audience that the State of Israel is not genocidal or colonialist. Also, CEA explained the challenges the Jewish people face around the world due to growing anti-Semitism. The topic was also student movements in Croatia and abroad, and the general situation in the academic community in the context of Jewish and Holocaust studies.

CEA firmly stands by the values of individual freedom

The Center for Public Policy and Economic Analysis (CEA) firmly stands by the values of individual freedom and democratic political culture. CEA encourages fact-based policies (not promoted by many fact-checkers), critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the background of complex problems. Such classical Western values, often neglected today, are also shared by the State of Israel.

CEA’s project Detektor analyzes disinformation as a result of repressive influences, including Iran as a sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East, against which only the State of Israel is systematically fighting. In this regard, CEA has already published information on how disinformation affects terrorism and anti-Israeli propaganda in academia.
